Pentagram Cake

CJSW's very own Master of Puppets, Nat Kaos, has the following message:

Hey, all my Legions of Caged Animals! I want to take this time to thank all of you for your birthday greetings during my show last week! It was a blast sharing with you some of my own METAL history, from the days of rockin' out to Twisted Sister, Triumph, Def Leppard, Whitesnake, Europe, and Warlock while growing up in the 80s, to my first metal concert (Metallica's "Damaged Justice" tour in '89 with the Cult), to exploring more brutal territories of Napalm Death, Carcass, and Entombed, which led me to joining CJSW, starting my Rage Cage in '93. Here I am today, another year older. I may no longer have the long hair that covered my entire back and face during my wild teenage and university years, but you could bet my jaw of death is stronger than ever, and those few extra wrinkles on my face make my evil grin more GRIM! Our mission continues, brothers and sisters: keep metal LOUD and DANGEROUS!!!

Once again, thanks for your continuing support, and I'll see you all back in the Caaaaage this Thursday night/Friday morning!!!!

Now, excuse me while I finish my pentagram cake!

DO MAKE SAY THINK - Soundbites

I did my best to filter out the tourcoach hum from my interview with Do Make Say Think on March 3, 2007. It sounds pretty good now. But, it's the content of the interview that should not be missed!

Hear Charles Spearin (mostly) and Justin Small chat about their search for simplified authenticity in the recording of You, You're a History in Rust, listening to Terrorizer on their long drive across the country, and fatherhood.

Kool Aid River

Do you keep on top of the CJSW charts? You may have noticed that Neon Bible is #1 this week. Fair enough. But did you see #2? Secret Mommy - Plays. Man, that's hot! Here's why:

This is the video for the electrifying "Kool Aid River". Dig it.

It's also worth noting that, this week, seven of the top ten are Canadian bands. Two of those seven are Calgarian! Pats on the back all around!

Interpolling

Andrew, Calgary's newest hip quick clicker, is the first to pass on credible information about the Interpol tour we hinted at yesterday. It's a go-go! They're playing MacHall on April 22, 2007 during a spate of Canadian tour dates.

Rumour has it...

That there are some hot shows coming to town.

1. Interpol at some point in Aprol.
2. Spoon at some point in Joon.

How cool would that be? We'll let you know if credible information comes in.

As for real news, !!! is playing in Vancouver, Edmonton, Saskatoon, but not here.

Snakes on a Plane, Sequel?

Remember last year's box office flop? An article from the CBC states:

KUALA LUMPUR, Malaysia (AP) - Workers at a northern Malaysian airport cargo complex found 2,400 snakes of a protected species in crates bound for Hong Kong sent by smugglers in Thailand, news reports said today.

News like this gets me pretty nostalgic about the antics that went down last summer in anticipation of SOAP. Remember the brutal dialogue? Remember the spin-offs? The drinking game?

Sit Back. Relax. Enjoy the fright.

Do Make Say Think - Photos

As promised, here are a few pixels from the Do Make Say Think show on Saturday night (March 3, 2007):

We hung out in their tour coach for about an hour chatting about the timelessness of certain records, the challenges of high-quality field recording in barns or cottages, and the frustrating contradiction of being labeled a post-rock and avant-rock band by music journalists.

Stay tuned for more information regarding the airing date of the interview. More photos are available here.
