Feb. 24-25, 2012, High School Students will compete for a chance to perform in the 2012 Calgary International Improv festival and a $1000 scholarship. The inaugural Calgary High School Theatresports™ Championship will showcase teams of high school students improvising in a fun, competitive format that was invented in Calgary 35 years ago. The brain child of Keith Johnstone in 1976, it is one of the most widely performed formats of improv and theatre in the world.
The tournament will feature eight high schools from the Calgary area including: Forest Lawn, St. Francis, Bishop Carroll, Notre Dame, E.P. Scarlett, James Fowler, West Island College and Bert Church. The winning team will be awarded a $1000 scholarship from Chinook Landscaping as well a performance showcase in the 2012 Calgary International Improv Festival.
