WHO: Anyone who wants to join in the Flash Mob to raise awareness for youth homelessness
WHAT: Singing part of Lean on Me (the parts that we all know J) Lyrics below…
WHEN: Tuesday, February 7th, 12 Noon
WHERE: Food Court at Market Mall
WHY: As part of Raising the Roof’s Annual National Toque Campaign that raises awareness and funds for the fight against youth homelessness
Servants Anonymous Society of Calgary is partnering with McMan Youth Family and Community Services Association to participate in Raising the Roof’s Annual National Toque Campaign that gives Canadians the chance to raise funds and awareness in the fight against homelessness in Canada. We are selling toques for a minimum donation of $10 and proceeds benefit our two agencies and other agencies across Canada. Toques can be purchased at SAS or McMan and they come in red or green. The first Tuesday in February (the 7th) is National Toque Tuesday where we together can proudly wear our toques and raise awareness for the issue of homelessness. Supporters can visit www.raisingtheroof.org to learn more about this national campaign, or come by SAS or McMan to purchase their toques.
Invite your family, friends, coworkers to join in the fun to raise awareness for youth homelessness.
Here’s How the flash mob will work…
SAS and McMan community members will be scattered throughout the food court. At 12 Noon the first table (mine, so don’t giggle too hard if my face is as red as my toque) will put on their toques, stand up and start singing and clapping the chorus. When you see the first table stand and put on their toques and start singing, stand up, put on your toque and jump in the singing and clapping. If you don’t want to purchase a toque and just want to sing and clap that is ok too! We’ll need plenty of us to get the momentum going. If you’re a little shy, that’s ok too… bring a poster that says Raising the Roof Toque Campaign or Join the Fight against Youth Homelessness or Put a Cap on Youth Homelessness and pull out the poster when we start singing. We’re going to sign one chorus and one verse twice, and then we’re gonna scatter when the flash mob is over, so if we don’t get the chance to say thank you in person the day of the event, please know how grateful we are for your support in this campaign.
Here’s the lyrics we’ll be singing…
see you next Tuesday in the food court at Market Mall at 12 noon!
Lean on me when you’re not strong
And I’ll be your friend
I’ll help you carry on
For it won’t be long till ‘m gonna need
Somebody to lean on
Just call on me brother when you need a hand
We all need somebody to lean on
I just might have a problem that you’d understand
We all need somebody to lean on
Lean on me when you’re not strong
And I’ll be your friend
I’ll help you carry on
For it won’t be long till ‘m gonna need
Somebody to lean on
Just call on me brother when you need a hand
We all need somebody to lean on
I just might have a problem that you’d understand
We all need somebody to lean on
