On today’s show Kat talks to Carey Williamson, the department head of the department of computer science at the University of Calgary, who’ll talk about the importance turing has at the UofC and in computer science as a whole. Nicole Wyatt a professor in the department of philosophy who teaches the philosophy of language and logic as well as a course that covers some of Turing’s results in logic will give us a run down of the Turing Test and speak to some of it’s philosophical implications.
Turing Series Part 2 Alan Turing is considered to be the Father of Computer Science. 2012 marks his hundredth birthday and people around the world are celebrating his achievements and discoveries. He introduced such concepts as relative computing and algorithms. He helped design early computing machines. He also assisted in breaking the German’s Enigma code during the second world war.
