Calgarian since birth, a pioneer of the electronic music scene in the city, DJ Rice been spinning sweet sounds since 1989. He has played all genres of music from R&B, Funk, Hip-hop and Techno, but mostly spins his true love, House music. Rice’s House set’s are consistently smooth, soulful and deep and have a wide range of styles from funk. disco, jazz and latin/afro grooves and always vocal tracks sprinkled in. He has been a winner of numerous local awards for Best Calgary DJ and best DJ night. His long time running DJ night Sunday Skool that originated in 1996 at the infamous Night Gallery Cabaret and most recently the late HIFI Club is one of the longest running Club in history and has hosted some of House music’s legendary Dj’s/producers. DJ Rice has been dedicated to the YYC’s underground music scene for over 30 years and is committed to maintaining a solid foundation for future up and coming DJ’s to break into.
