SUMMARY:Everlae at King Eddy with special guest Brooke Elquin
DESCRIPTION:Singer-songwriter Everlae hits the legendary King Eddy stage on July 17. Special guest Brooke Elquin will open the show. \nEvent Details:\nDate: July 17\, 2026 \nTime: 8:30 pm \nPrice: $15 in advance on SHOWPASS or $20 at the door \nPlace: King Eddy \nAbout Everlae: \nEverlae is a solo musician\, singer\, and songwriter from Calgary\, Alberta. She began writing songs out of high school after getting her now well-worn Taylor guitar\, recording early demos in a friend’s basement studio. Originally an acoustic singer-songwriter\, she later studied classical voice at the University of Lethbridge but left that path to focus on her own music. Under her previous name\, Amanda Michelle\, she released her debut EP 10 Whole Minutes and performed the release show while eight months pregnant. \nOver the next eight years\, music took a back seat as she raised four children. Now\, with her kids in school\, Everlae has returned to music with fresh inspiration and a new sound. Still writing on guitar\, she’s now leaning into an ethereal\, indie pop direction inspired by Owl City\, The Chainsmokers\, Lights\, Vanessa Carlton\, Lord Huron\, and Taylor Swift. She is in the middle of the production of her first EP under the name Everlae. \nAbout Brooke Elquin: \nBlackfoot singer-songwriter\, Brooke Elquin\, makes indie-pop music that integrates playful honesty with emotional depth\, proving that not all meaningful music has to feel heavy. Known for her unique melodies and mesmerizing tone of voice\, Brooke is becoming a familiar face in the Calgary music scene. Her debut single Bird in the Winter\, recorded as a raw\, off-the-floor session with live instrumentation\, marks the start of a deeply personal project.

SUMMARY:Songs In The Saddle: A Stampede Songwriters Showcase w/ Elliot C Way & Carter Felker
DESCRIPTION:DATES & TIMES\nTuesday July 7th\, 2026\nPerformance: 7:30PM – 10:00PM\nDoors Open: 6:30PM \nTICKETS:\n$30 on The Grand website\nLOCATION\nThe GRAND – 608 1st St SW\nFlanagan Theatre (Main Floor) \nGet ready\, Calgary! The North Country Collective is quickly becoming the heart of a growing grassroots community\, championing songwriters who value honesty\, authenticity\, and the timeless traditions of country\, folk\, and Americana music. \nThis special event at the historic Grand Theatre brings together two of Western Canada’s finest songwriters for an evening that celebrates the craft of storytelling through song. Fans of artists like Steve Earle\, Guy Clark\, Townes Van Zandt\, and John Prine will feel right at home as these songs and stories unfold on stage. \nVancouver’s Elliot C. Way is no stranger to Calgary or the Stampede\, making annual trips through Alberta that have earned him a loyal and growing following. An outlaw country songwriter with a gritty\, unmistakable voice\, Elliott writes songs rooted in honesty\, hard-won experience\, and a deep respect for the traditions of the genre. Drawing inspiration from the likes of Waylon Jennings\, Bruce Springsteen\, and Bob Dylan\, his live performances are shaped by years on the road and a commitment to songcraft above all else. \nJoining him is Calgary’s own Carter Felker\, one of the most respected voices in Alberta’s independent country scene. Widely recognized for his acclaimed songwriting and thoughtful records\, Felker’s plain-spoken delivery\, reedy tenor\, and understated musicianship bring to life songs filled with humanity\, heartache\, humour\, and hope. His ability to capture universal truths through everyday stories has made him a standout voice among a new generation of Canadian songwriters. \nBoth artists will be joined by some of the finest musicians in the country\, including players who have shared stages and recording sessions with some of Canada’s most celebrated artists\, including Alberta’s own Noeline Hofmann. \nExpect an intimate evening of songs and stories—music that speaks to the soul\, honours the traditions of classic country and Americana\, and reminds us why great songwriting endures. Whether you’re drawn to the outlaw spirit of country music or the rich storytelling traditions of folk and Americana\, this is a night designed for listeners who appreciate songs with something to say. \nJoin us for a memorable evening in one of Calgary’s most beautiful and historic venues THE GRAND THEATER

They had been playing music together since their teens. Initially known as Lips\, the band added bassist Ian Dickson and rhythm guitarist Dave Allison\, and in 1980 recorded an independent album titled Hard ‘n’ Heavy\, which introduced their penchant for sexual explicitness. Zany antics notwithstanding\, Anvil’s musical contributions were very real; their fastest songs were some of the earliest speed metal laid to wax\, while jazz-trained drummer Robb Reiner set new technical standards for the genre\, including pioneering the double bass drum technique that’s become a staple of much extreme metal since. \nAnvil were one of the first North American bands to push the sound and style of the New Wave of British Heavy Metal one step further. Indebted to the likes of Judas Priest\, Iron Maiden\, and many others from across the Atlantic\, Anvil nonetheless played louder\, faster\, and heavier than their heroes\, in the process laying the groundwork for the thrash movement that took over heavy metal’s underground in the ’80s. Anvil’s second and third albums\, Metal on Metal and Forged in Fire\, made significant waves in the metal community in 1982 and 1983. – www.allmusic.com \nhttps://www.instagram.com/lipsanvil\nhttps://www.instagram.com/anvil.metal \nMidnight Hellion (Trenton\, New Jersey)\nTheir distinctive style – classic\, no-frills heavy metal serving tremendously infectious spurts of thrash riffs with a straight\, fun stage attitude – made them a top pick for world-class acts to ignite their respective crowds. Bringing their strong regional fan base to the table\, MIDNITE HELLION shared the stages with OverKill\, Dirkschneider\, Grim Reaper\, Flotsam & Jetsam\, Obituary\, Diamond Head\, Raven\, Exodus\, Yngwie Malmsteen\, and many more. \nhttps://www.midnitehellion.com\nhttps://www.instagram.com/midnitehellion \nLOVER\nOld school guitar riffs\, 80s heavy metal soul \nhttps://loverrockofficial.bandcamp.com\nhttps://www.instagram.com/loverrockofficial
