Their current lineup consists of Richard Charlton (bass 2015-2021\, vocals\, guitar\, synth\, audio engineer)\, brothers Travis Arnoldussen (drums\, vocals)\, and Chris Arnoldussen (lead guitar) who have both been in the band since its formation. The latest and final addition to the lineup is Jacqueline Kennelly (bass\, backup guitar) who joined Rainbow Patrol when they reunited after a two year hiatus\, and exploded back into the desert rock scene with their new single “I Float” in 2022. \nTheir music has been described as a psychedelic mix of fuzz heavy riffs reminiscent of Queens Of The Stone Age\, The Sword\, Elder\, and Baroness\, with a groove that will make you think of Black Sabbbath. Top this off with unique vocals and multiple singers\, ranging from the hauntingly clean to earth shattering growls\, and you get a band that truly sounds like no other. “I Float”\, along with every other release to date has been produced\, distributed\, and marketed entirely independently by members\, and friends of the band. After favorable word of mouth and increasing presence online\, Rainbow Patrol received airplay on radio stations all across Canada from Kelowna BC\, to London ON\, as well as receiving national airtime in countries such as Italy\, Norway\, United States\, and UK to name a few. \nCurrently Rainbow Patrol is performing shows regularly in Southern Alberta\, where it is very likely you will hear one of their multiple new unreleased singles. This will be the only way you get to hear brand new\, unrecorded original Rainbow Patrol songs. A performance by these four Vikings is always an all-encompassing ritual\, a magic potion of incantation dance and a phenomenon of nature. In the process\, she’s earned a reputation as one of the most explosive live performers in jazz history and a global ambassador for the art form. Her many triumphs include an NPR Tiny Desk Concert that has racked up 2 million views; the opportunity to represent her native Japan with a performance at the 2021 Summer Olympics in Tokyo; 2024 winner for Best Music Score for the animated feature film Blue Giant (Award of the Japanese Academy); and a GRAMMY Award for a collaboration with fusion hero Stanley Clarke. Her artistry is — to borrow a descriptor The New Yorker favored — “dazzling.” \nIn 2023\, she released Sonicwonderland\, debuting perhaps the most expressive\, dynamic and versatile working band of her career. DESCRIPTION:Born into New Orleans’ first family of jazz\, Jason Marsalis – youngest son of the late pianist-educator Ellis Marsalis Jr. and brother to Wynton\, Branford\, and Delfeayo – has carved his own unmistakable path as both a virtuosic drummer and one of today’s most imaginative voices on the vibraphone. \nMarsalis launched his career behind the drum kit\, and by his late teens he was touring the world with Marcus Roberts\, digging deeply into mainstream jazz\, fusion\, Brazilian influences\, and the full spectrum of New Orleans traditions. His sideman credits read like a modern jazz honour roll: Joe Henderson\, Lionel Hampton\, Jon Batiste\, and the Jazz at Lincoln Center Orchestra\, among others. He has also served as a Jazz Ambassador for the U.S. State Department. \nIn the early 2000s\, Marsalis shifted his creative focus to the vibraphone – a move that has since positioned him as one of the instrument’s essential contemporary innovators. Through his Vibes Quartet and numerous collaborations\, he has pushed the American vibraphone lineage forward with wit\, clarity\, and a deep sense of swing. In 2011\, he became the youngest-ever recipient of the NEA Jazz Masters Fellowship when the Marsalis family was honoured at the White House and the Kennedy Center. His ensemble\, Upendo\, reflects his commitment to collective uplift and deep listening. Hailed by The New York Times and Los Angeles Times as a rising force in contemporary jazz\, Woody signed with the legendary Blue Note Records in November 2024 and released his debut album\, For The Love Of It All\, in May 2025. DESCRIPTION:Paying homage to one of the greatest musicians of all time\, the Ray Charles Tribute Orchestra is a 9 piece orchestra formed by Musical Director John Gray\, bassist and leader on the Calgary Jazz scene. Performing such hits as ‘Georgia On My Mind’\, ‘MaryAnn’\, ‘Hit the Road Jack’ and ‘Let the Good Times Roll’. Featuring Award Winning Vocalist\, Thomas Alexander on lead vocals\, the group includes a solid rhythm section\, a killer horn section and 2 Soulful backup singers. \nThe show is at the Triwood Community Association on Sunday\, June 21.
