SUMMARY:Canada's IRON KINGDOM Forge "Blood and Steel" w/ Second Single From New Album "Shadows and Dust" Release Tour
DESCRIPTION:Calgary Show takes place at 7 p.m. on August 22nd at Dickens Pub. More information to be released for the upcoming show later on Dickens Pub Website: https://dickensyyc.com/events/ \nABOUT THE BAND:  \nVancouver\, Canada’s traditional heavy metal torchbearers IRON KINGDOM return with the second single from their upcoming sixth studio album “Shadows and Dust\,” due out June 6\, 2026\, marking their first release under their new label partnership with Steel Shark Records (France)\, which will offer an exclusive EU edition limited to just 300 double‑CD copies. Disc 1 will contain the full “Shadows and Dust” album\, while Disc 2 will feature a “Best Of” collection highlighting tracks from Iron Kingdom’s previous five releases. In addition\, the label will introduce a third vinyl colour (100 copies) available only to EU fans.\n\nFollowing the momentum of their first single and music video “Defenders”\, the band now unveils the powerful new track “Blood and Steel”\, accompanied by an epic lyric video that dives deep into the album’s themes of endurance\, mortality\, and the human cost of ambition. \nBassist Leighton Holmes explains further: \n“The inspiration for ‘Blood and Steel’ came from two places. One draws from Steven Erikson’s Malazan Book of the Fallen\, and the other from imagining myself as a soldier in Alexander the Great’s army\, twelve years into a campaign\, thousands of miles from home\, questioning how I got there. The endless marching\, the battles\, the weight of the gear… It’s a brutal life\, and in a small way\, it parallels the blood\, sweat\, and tears of touring in a band.”\n\nMusically\, “Blood and Steel” stands apart in the IRON KINGDOM catalogue. \n“We wanted the song to feel like a march. It’s very bass‑ and drum‑driven in the verses\, with guitars layered in strategic spots. It’s a different kind of song for us\, and I think it’s going to add something special to our live sets\,” adds vocalist/guitarist Chris Osterman. \nWatch and listen to “Blood and Steel” at https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qb8BIzHT3_Q \nAdd to your Spotify playlist – https://open.spotify.com/track/6SDL7czZLBENHKRRbFvrQl\n\n“Shadows and Dust” is IRON KINGDOM’s most emotionally charged and thematically dark album to date\, ten tracks exploring death\, hardship\, impermanence\, and the resilience required to push through life’s most difficult trials. The cover art\, inspired by the story behind “Blood and Steel\,” depicts an army marching across a desolate landscape\, echoing the album’s central themes of struggle and perseverance.\n\n“This album plays in a dark realm. But that’s exactly what will make it accessible to people going through tough times. The music shows hope for a way out. It’s a journey\, one we can’t wait for fans to experience front to back\,” says Osterman.

SUMMARY:Among Legends
DESCRIPTION:WHERE: Vern’s \n622 8 Ave SW\, Calgary\, Canada\n\n\n\n\nWHEN: August 21\, 2026\nTIME: 8:00 PM MDT\n$15 COVER CHARGE\n\nOntario’s Among Legends have been playing their own brand of energetic punk rock for nearly a decade. Formed in 2016\, the band built its reputation through a run of EPs before releasing their debut full-length album Take Good Care in 2022. Since its release\, the band has played consistently throughout Canada and the United States\, with energetic shows and a firm belief that playing music should be a good time. After carving some time out of a busy show schedule to record\, Among Legends returns with their second full-length album Lose My Grip\, due July 10\, 2026 via Little Rocket Records. The new record finds the band more confident in their melodic punk rock sound\, leaning into more aggressive tendencies with tighter hooks as the band reflects on both personal and external challenges. This year\, Among Legends are ready to take Lose My Grip on the road\, playing as many dive bars\, basements\, DIY spaces\, concert halls and backyards as possible.\n\n\n\n\nGenres: Punk-pop\, Alternative\, Pop Punk\, Punk\n\n\nBand Members: Bennett Rouleau\, Mitchell Buchanan\, Sara Fellin\n\n\nHometown: Waterloo\, Canada

SUMMARY:Tom Phillips
DESCRIPTION:Survivor and singer of cautionary tales. You want it\, you got it from Tom Phillips\, whose career’s turned itself inside out so often that at times he appears to be a shape shifter. During the past few years\, Phillips’ transformation was also physical as he swapped alcohol for coffee and his trademark cowboy boots and shirts for polished shoes and tailored suits. But appearances distract\, and Phillips is no shape shifter: if you took a musical x-ray during every incarnation\, you’d find song writing as the bedrock under the suits\, boots\, cowboy hats and skin. Which explains why revered blues artist Eric Bibb covered Phillips’ touchstone tune\, Ribbons and Bows\, on one of his albums. An esteemed statesperson of the Calgary music scene\, Phillips earned his laurels over decades. He recorded with Gordon Lightfoot’s band in Toronto before releasing several albums\, both live and in studio\, with his legendary long time honky-tonk band The Men of Constant Sorrow (MOCS). He also released an acoustic solo album\, paid homage to Hank Williams on the Sorrow Bound project\, and smashed his comfort zone with a daring\, darling album of cover songs from punk and rock territory. He’s often found anchoring musical gatherings that celebrate the songs of Haggard\, Dylan\, Springsteen and Lightfoot. The evolution continues on his most recent work with the D.T.’s (Difficult Transitions). The band formed serendipitously at bars and open stages\, learning Phillips’ most recent songs onstage just in time for his last record. With MOCS veteran Tim Leacock (The Co-Dependents)\, Ian Grant (Art Bergmann\, Cat Ranch)\, Geoff Brock and sisters Shaye and Sydney Zadravec\, the D.T.’s translate Phillips’ songs into live performances that deliver musical delights which offer style without flash. So take a musical walk with Phillips and gaze at life through his seasoned eyes. He’s got it covered with a hundred songs that undress truths so simple they’re frightening. Ever cheated on a lover\, driven home drunk\, been bucked off your horse\, or been the last person in the bar when the lights came up? If you’ve been stranded on the highway\, woken up in the wrong bed\, walked home barefoot in a ball gown in the morning rain\, or wished you could have a re-do on any of these choices\, Phillips has a song for you.
