SUMMARY:Darren Johnson
DESCRIPTION:For the last ten years\, Darren has been a fixture on the Canadian blues and roots scene – working with the likes of Amos Garrett\, Tim Williams\, Jim Byrnes\, John Lee Saunders\, and The Blind Boys of Alabama to name a few. His music has been described as “somewhere in between Tom Waits and Leon Redbone\, Howlin’ Wolf and Willie Nelson”. His songwriting is simple\, yet deals with everyday situations for everyday people. His sound is a throwback to yesteryear\, one may find themselves deceived by the contrast between what they are hearing verses what they are seeing… Hailing from Okotoks Alberta\, Darren spends most of his time touring the western provinces of Canada as either a solo or duo act. Eastern Canada has received only a limited taste of Darren’s music – tours in 2004\, 2006 and 2008 garnered favorable responses. European audiences were introduced via a “mini” tour in 2003. Four albums later\, Darren’s music has reached throughout the U.S.\, Europe\, Japan\, China\, and Australia through CD sales. \nWHERE: The Blues Can \nWHEN: Friday August 7\, 2026 \nTIME: 5:00 PM – 7:00 PM (Happy Hour)

SUMMARY:Fraser Wayne with Carter Felker
DESCRIPTION:Graveyard country-rocker Fraser Wayne joins forces with folk-country songwriter Carter Felker at the historic King Eddy on August 6. \n Fraser Wayne:  \nA cowpoke of many hats – you can catch Fraser playing an intimate solo set at your local dive bar\, or headlining festivals with a full backing band – always blending their country / rock n roll influences with honest-to-the-bone lyricism. \nCarter Felker : \nIntricacy is often overlooked when accompanied by the sort of plain-spoken straight talk fashioned by Calgary singer-songwriter Carter Felker. Evoking the memory of such luminaries as Clark\, Van Zandt and Prine\, Felker’s nimble self-accompaniment neatly underscores the raw\, universal themes he brings to life with his reedy tenor.

SUMMARY:Studebaker John: Old School Rockin'
DESCRIPTION:9pm Showtime\, seating opens at 7:30pm \n$10 Pre-Sale or $15 Day Of Show. \nCall 403-262-2666 to make Reservations. Or email us your number: info@thebluescan.com. Or just take a chance & come on down! \nTaking his stage name from an automobile he once owned\, Studebaker John Grimaldi was a product of the vibrant blues scene of Chicago’s West Side. Becoming a fixture at the open-air flea markets in the Maxwell Street area — a venue for countless blues buskers — he began focusing on harmonica after catching performances from the likes of Little Walter and Sonny Boy Williamson; after taking in a Hound Dog Taylor club date\, Grimaldi also turned to guitar. He formed the blues-rock band the Hawks during the early ’70s as a showcase for his reedy vocals\, primal harp sound\, and blistering slide guitar skills\, and in the years to follow also developed into a fine songwriter.

SUMMARY:Jarhead Album Release w/ Pinball 1973\, Far Lane & Crofton
DESCRIPTION:Friday July 24th \nJarhead Album release show with support from Pinball 1973\, Far Lane & Crofton \nLoophole Coffee Bar \nTickets available at doors \nDoors at 7PM\, bands at 8PM – All Ages \nJarhead is a fresh up and coming band formed recently in Calgary comprised of a group of high school students. Following the release of their debut single: “Crawlspace” the band will be headlining this show in support of an album releasing in tandem. \nSupporting Jarhead is two gut punching heavy hitter midwest emo bands (Pinball 1973 & Far Lane) and will mark the public debut of a new band: “Crofton“. All these bands alone are worth seeing\, but together there is no doubt they’ll put on an energetic\, emotional and entertaining set of performances. Any fan of midwest emo and post hardcore is sure to have a great night. \n  \nFor further details and questions contact the band directly with the provided link \nhttps://www.instagram.com/jarhead.yyc/p/DZ-g2Qvm0cS/ \n
