SUMMARY:Mike Plume
DESCRIPTION:Storyteller Mike Plume makes his way back to the prairies after a year-long absence from the stage\, stopping at the legendary King Eddy on March 21. \nEvent Details:\nDate: March 21\, 2026 \nTime: 8:30 pm \nPrice: $30 in advance or $35 at the door \nMore about Mike Plume: \nOnce the dogged road warrior\, travelling from coast to coast\, overseas\, and across borders\, Mike has stepped back to take more time to analyze his place in the music industry. \n“The future ain’t what it used to be\, and every couple of years or so\, I think\, ‘Welp\, that’s it. Cheque\, please! I manage to convince myself that I won’t ever write\, record\, or tour again. But in the back of my mind\, the urge to see the sunrise on a stretch of highway I’ve never been on before is too strong to ignore. ‘Every now and then\, it seems\, the road is in my dreams. Chasing yonder star with a Lonesome Guitar…’ Truer words I’ve never written\,” says Mike. \nMike Plume is pure Canadiana. We are united by his lyrics; they are the ultimate IYKYK for Canadians: \n\n“…Me and my wife and kids\, we all sing along\, driving around Moncton town\, singing the Hockey Song…” (So Long\, Stompin’ Tom)\n“…Rolling north on 63\, and pulling into McMurray\, and Easterners are all you see…” (Coming Home Again (Hey Hey\, What D’ya Say))\n“…Lost a wheel in Ontario\, and didn’t know until it passed us by\, and on the Trans Canada highway\, a five-point turn ain’t something one should try…” (Me and Ern)\n“…It said ‘Wild Rose Country’\, it brought me back home and suddenly\, I just needed to be back ‘neath that Prairie sky…” (Red & White Blues)\nand of course\, almost every line of the second Canadian anthem\, including: “…No matter where you go in this rugged land\, there’s one thing we all understand: Every woman\, every child\, and man – 8:30 Newfoundland…” (8:30 Newfoundland (This is Our Home))\n\nWill this be another upswing of recording and touring? Or is this just a March winter tour through the Canadian Prairies to remind himself why musicians really shouldn’t tour through the Canadian Prairies for a March winter tour? \nOnly time will tell.

SUMMARY:MRG Live presents Bob Sumner
DESCRIPTION:MRG Live presents Bob Sumner \nWhere: Palomino Smokehouse and Social Club\n109 7 Avenue S.W Calgary\nhttp://thepalomino.ca/\n18+ with government issued identification\nWhen: Saturday March 21\, 2026\nDoors: 8:00pm / Music 9:00pm\nAdmission: $20.00 advance at www.admitone.com\nNO JERK POLICY ALWAYS IN EFFECT!! \nBob Summer\nSinger-songwriter Bob Sumner cites the musically progressive sensibilities of his heroes when talking about the spirit of his new album\, Some Place to Rest Easy\, out now via Fluff & Gravy (worldwide) and North Country Collective (Canada). “They were always creating something new\, something different\,” he says of idols like George Jones\, Willie Nelson\, and Waylon Jennings. With that ideology in mind\, Sumner set about creating an album that takes as much inspiration from the audio production of Randy Travis as it does the lyrical soul of Big Thief’s Adrianne Lenker—a melding of eras\, sounds\, concepts\, and stylings that’s informed by the past\, but never bound by it. \nWith Some Place to Rest Easy\, Sumner picks up the tempo compared to his previous releases\, balancing the stirring lyrical depth fans have come to expect with a more buoyant\, lively feel. “It felt appropriate to give the music itself some joy\,” says the man who’s made a career out of tapping into difficult-to-touch-on\, real-life stuff in a relatable\, palatable manner. In the end\, that’s what Sumner’s music has always been about—more than a single sound\, influence\, instrumental\, or clever line. “I always want people to feel something\,” Sumner explains. “If I heard that this album helped somebody that was feeling down\, even just by feeling some other emotion for a little while\, that’s the number one thing for me. \nhttps://bobsumnermusic.com\nhttps://bobsumner.bandcamp.com\nhttps://www.instagram.com/brotherbobsumner \nFor more information\, visit: https://thepalomino.ca/facebook-event/mrg-live-presents-bob-sumner/

DESCRIPTION:WHEN ARTIFICIAL INTELLIGENCE TAKES THE STAGE \nAn Immersive Theatrical Puzzle Where the Answer  \nChanges Every Night \nSage Theatre\, in Association with Vertical City\, present RESET by Bruce Barton \nCalgary\, AB —Four figures wake up in an isolated room\, with no memory of how they arrived. Each holds a single\, fragmented clue—just out of reach. As they begin to share what little they know\, a chilling realization emerges: the real question is not who they are\, but what they are. Because only one of them is human\, and in an AI-driven world\, being human can be dangerous. reset by Bruce Barton\, presented by Sage Theatre\, in association with Vertical City\, runs from March 18 – 22\, 2026 at Contemporary Calgary. \n“We’ve been developing this project in some capacity for 8 years\, and yet somehow we’re completely addressing the conversations of our AI-filled current moment! Our story addresses our humanity by questioning it at every step; what about our experiences\, our responses\, make us human?” said Jason Mehmel\, Sage Theatre’s Artistic Director. \n“This production is a highlight of the craft of acting\, stripped down to the fine-tuned artistic impulses of some of Calgary’s best actors. The details of humanity might show up in the smallest reaction; we want our audience to be watching closely. The stories that lurk underneath these characters are also not simply sci-fi tropes\, but lyrical\, human moments. To allow for that\, we’re collaborating with filmmaker Emil Agopian\, who captures these characters and broadcasts to screens allowing the audience to keep a close eye on all four characters\, constantly.” \nreset\, written by Bruce Barton and created in association with Vertical City\, is an intimate\, immersive theatre experience where the audience becomes part of the investigation. Each performance unfolds as a high-stakes mystery that changes nightly—because even the actors don’t know the answer when the show begins. \n“I began dreaming about this project almost a decade ago\, and Jason has been my creative companion at every step of the journey. In that time\, the state and significance of Artificial Intelligence have evolved almost unrecognizably. Remarkably\, however (and fortunately for us)\, the ideas we’re navigating have never been more relevant and urgent. We hope audiences will encounter a world that is both strange and familiar—much like the headlines they consume every day\,” added Writer and Director Bruce Barton\, who is also the Co-Director of Vertical City. \nSet inside Contemporary Calgary\, this limited five-night run invites audiences into a suspenseful\, close-quarters encounter with questions of identity\, technology\, and what it means to be human in an increasingly artificial world. \nCast & Creative Team  \nBraden Griffiths \nJamie Konchak \nJulie Orton \nMike Tan \nBruce Barton: Writer & Director; Vertical City Co-Director \nK Hall: Stage Manager \nJason Mehmel: Associate Director & Producer; Sage Theatre Artistic Director \nDylan Lindsay: Associate Producer\, Composer & Sound Designer \nEmil Agopian: Filmmaker – Stream Designer \nPerformance Dates \nWednesday\, March 18\, 2026 – 7:30 pm (Opening Night) \nThursday\, March 19\, 2026 – 7:30 pm \nFriday\, March 20\, 2026 – 7:30 pm \nSaturday\, March 21\, 2026 – 7:30 pm \nSunday\, March 22\, 2026 – 7:30 pm \nTickets \nChoose-your-price: $60\, $30\, or $15 \nStandard ticket: $30 \nPatrons who are able are encouraged to select a higher price or make an additional donation to support the work. \nreset blends live performance with immersive storytelling\, inviting audiences to observe closely\, connect the clues\, and question their own assumptions. No two performances are the same—and the outcome is never predetermined. \nPerformance Dates: March 18 – 22\, 2026 \nVenue: Contemporary Calgary \nFor tickets and more information\, visit https://sagetheatre.com/

SUMMARY:Songsmith Sundays with Carter Felker
DESCRIPTION:Every week\, country-folk singer-songwriter Carter Felker presents a chill weekend set with a rotating cast of guests. This family-friendly show is best paired with our delicious Sunday brunch! \nEvent Details:\nDate: March 15\, 2026 \nTime: 11:30 am \nPrice: No cover \nAbout Carter Felker: \nBorn and raised in the Prairies\, Carter Felker’s eyes have seen the length of the wheat fields through many winter mornings\, and the stretch of the sun through many short-lived summers. He has laboured\, he has lost\, and he has loved. Carter uses his own experience\, and his desire to tell a story to create honest\, human-made\, country music. \n“Carter Felker traffics in music\, yes\, but even more profoundly in essence: the humdrum essence of Monday morning alarms clocks coming round again during lifetimes ticking on through thoughtless dawn moments walking across the kitchen floor; the craven essence of sneaking wordlessly away from a relationship and feeling the mute screen door sag shut behind you; the essence of everyday struggles.” – MLW

SUMMARY:A Tribute to Horace Silver
DESCRIPTION:The Jazz Nebula society presents A Tribute to Horace Silver\, Saturday\, March 14\, 2026\, 2:00 p.m. at Scarboro United Church\, 134 Scarboro Ave SW\, featuring: Johnny Summers\, trumpet; John Reid\, saxophones and flute; Jon Day\, grand piano; John Gray\, string bass; Ed Batley\, drums. Tickets are $40 general admission\, $35 for Jazz Nebula and CALL members\, $10 students\, and are available at Eventbrite.ca. \nThere will be a pre-show chat presentation on Horace Silver at 1:30 p.m. given by Jazz Nebula Artistic and General Director\, John Reid. \nHorace Ward Martin Tavares Silver (September 2\, 1928 – June 18\, 2014) was an American jazz pianist\, composer\, and arranger\, particularly in the Hard Bop style that he helped pioneer in the 1950s. \nSilver got his break on when his trio was recruited by Stan Getz in 1950. Silver soon moved to New York City\, where he developed a reputation as a composer and for his bluesy playing. It was his work with the Jazz Messengers\, co-led by Art Blakey\, that brought both his writing and playing most attention. \nAfter leaving Blakey in 1956\, Silver formed his own quintet\, with what became the standard small group line-up of tenor saxophone\, trumpet\, piano\, bass\, and drums. Their public performances and frequent recordings for Blue Note Records increased Silver’s popularity\, even through changes of personnel. His most successful album was Song for My Father\, made with two iterations of the quintet in 1963 and 1964. \nSilver was among the most influential jazz musicians of his lifetime. Grove Music Online describes his legacy as at least fourfold: \n\nAs a pioneer of hard bop;\nAs a user of what became the archetypal quintet instrumentation of tenor saxophone\, trumpet\, piano\, bass\, and drums;\nAs a developer of young musicians who went on to become important players and bandleaders;\nFor his skill as a composer and arranger.\n\nHis compositions are one of his great legacies and those are what will be celebrated in this concert: 14 of Silver’s songs will be performed including: “Doodlin’\,” “Song for My Father\,” “The Preacher\,” “Nica’s Dream\,” “The Hardbop Grandpop\,” and “Sister Sadie” among others. \nAn aspect of Canadian music will be included as well. \nHis innovative incorporation of gospel and blues sounds into jazz compositions took place while they were also being added to rock ‘n’ roll and R&B pieces. His compositions and arrangements were also designed to make Silver’s typical line-up sound larger than a quintet. \nFor more information contact: https://www.jazzyyc.com/jazz-events/jazz-nebula-2025/
