SUMMARY:Poison Ruin with Special Guests No Problem\, Piss Chalice And Cat Piss
DESCRIPTION:Philadelphia’s Doomy\, Dungeon punks Poison Ruïn return to the Palomino Smokehouse September Long Weekend with special guests No Problem (Edmonton)\, Piss Chalice (Winnipeg) and Cat Piss \nWhere: Palomino Smokehouse and Social Club\n109 7 Avenue S.W Calgary\nhttp://thepalomino.ca/\n18+ with government issued identification\nWhen: Sunday September 6\, 2026\nDoors: 7:00pm / Action 8:00pm\nAdmission: $25.00 advance at www.showpass.com\nNO JERK POLICY ALWAYS IN EFFECT!! \nPoison Ruïn (Philadelphia\, Pennsylvania)\nBuilding off the strengths of their critically acclaimed works\, POISON RUIN return with their new album\, Hymns From the Hills. The Philadelphia punk band have developed their signature approach to grim mythmaking and scythe-swinging aggression in bold new directions\, offering up a new body of songs that strike one as equal parts natural\, undeniably of this world\, and phantasmal. \nThe band’s vision has grown substantially\, pushing well past the tales of peasants and serfs that stood as allegories for contemporary alienation in their previous work. On this newest offering\, their previous stories of toil and dispossession are revealed to be but one chapter etched upon a bleaker tapestry- One populated by spirits traversing sunless deserts and wilted hillsides\, demonic torture objects limning the edges of the psyche\, bodies transfigured into Luciferian snakes\, Sadean prisoners bound to the screaming silence of abandoned castle towers. The record is at once a forceful restatement of POISON RUIN’s trademark sound and a departure from it. The crackling\, cassette-dubbed darkness and crushing rhythms listeners have become accustomed to are buttressed by a carefully sculpted mosaic of new textures\, from flourishes of Killing Joke hacksaw primitivism and blast-beats worthy of the Relapse catalogue number to crisp analog synth lines and ambient serenades reminiscent of Scott Walker and The Durutti Column. Like a serpent moving ever outward with spiraling circularity\, Hymns From the Hills expands POISON RUIN’s sonic landscape in imaginative new directions while maintaining its center of gravity firmly in the band’s already established mythos. \nhttps://www.poisonru.in\nhttps://poisonruin.bandcamp.com\nhttps://www.instagram.com/poisonruin \nNo Problem (Edmonton)\nHardcore Punk\nhttps://noproblempunk.bandcamp.com\nhttps://www.instagram.com/noproblempunx \nPiss Chalice (Winnipeg)\nBlackened Punk Terror\nhttps://www.instagram.com/pisschalice\nhttps://pisschaliceblackmetal.bandcamp.com \nCat Piss\nHorror Synth Punk\nhttps://catpiss.bandcamp.com\nhttps://www.instagram.com/welovecatpiss \nIn the spirit of reconciliation\, we acknowledge that we live\, work and play on the traditional territories of the Blackfoot Confederacy (Siksika\, Kainai\, Piikani)\, the Tsuut’ina First Nation\, the Iyarhe Nakoda (including Chiniki\, Bearspaw\, and Goodstoney First Nations)\, the Battle River Territory of the Métis Nation of Alberta Districts 5 & 6\, and all people who make their homes in the Treaty 7 region of Southern Alberta. \nNO JERK POLICY ALWAYS IN EFFECT!!

SUMMARY:Deep Dark Woods with Clinton St. John
DESCRIPTION:Deep Dark Woods returns for an intimate evening at Festival Hall with support from Clinton St. John \n\n\n\n\nDeep Dark Woods \nSeptember 7\, 2026 \nFestival Hall \nDoors: 7:00 pm; show 8:00 pm \nWith one foot in old school tradition\, nearly two decades into their life as one of Canada’s finest folk-roots ensembles\, that tradition is now one they’ve invented. A master of subtlety\, founding member Ryan Boldt’s highly emotive\, nuanced singing has an elegant\, relaxed precision that seems effortless\, a perfect vehicle for the band’s particular brand of updated folk music Fellow travellers keyboard whiz Geoff Hilhorst\, veteran drummer Mike Silverman\, and Evan Cheadle round out the Deep Dark Woods unit\, often assisted by like-minded roots singer/songwriters. \nTheirs is a deep tradition of forlorn storytelling\, drawing lines from Celtic folksongs to country blues. Lush and devastating\, Boldt’s gothic surrealism is stark and emotive. \nClinton St. John \nSolo\, or with one of his many former (The Cape May\, Pale Air Singers) or current (Florida BC\, Jolie Laide\, CG Tears) projects\, Clinton is a vividly imaginative storyteller who builds dreamy\, anthemic narrative landscapes around surreal psych-folk gritty blues and gospel-influenced songs.

SUMMARY:Neon Taste presents Unsane ‘Occupational Hazard’ Tour with PURE LOVE ETERNAL PEACE and Bat Leather
DESCRIPTION:Neon Taste presents Unsane ‘Occupational Hazard’ Tour with special guests PURE LOVE ETERNAL PEACE and Bat Leather \nWhere: Palomino Smokehouse and Social Club\n109 7 Avenue S.W Calgary\nhttp://thepalomino.ca/\n18+ with government issued identification\nWhen: Wednesday September 22\, 2026 Doors: 7:00pm\nGeneral sale / Friday March 13\, 2026\, 10:00 a.m. MST \nUnsane\nSonically\, the record is noted for its aggressively distorted guitars\, driving basslines\, and pounding drums – hallmarks of the band’s uncompromising noise rock style. In preparation for the album\, the band first recorded a six-song demo session at AmRep Studios in Minneapolis\, MN. Shortly after\, Unsane relocated to Excello Studios in Brooklyn\, NY\, where they tracked the album with engineer Billy Anderson. Frontman Chris Spencer (guitar\, vocals) recalls the period: “The writing process for Occupational\nHazard was great. I think the one real defining factor to this very creatively rewarding period of time in our career was that we knew what we were doing in terms of songwriting\, and we were able to take our time while constantly playing.” \nFollowing the recording sessions\, Occupational Hazard was mixed by legendary producer and Barkmarket guitarist David Sardy. Reflecting on the collaboration\, Spencer adds: “I’ve always liked what he did with his own band and in the studio\, and I thought that it would work well for what we were doing. Dave also had access to a really good studio in Midtown Manhattan\, so we decided to take advantage of his great production work and that space. We had been offered a three-record deal with Relapse Records and figured that would be the best thing to do\, considering we wanted to tour constantly.” \nShortly before the album’s original release\, during a European press tour\, Spencer was brutally attacked by street thugs in Vienna\, Austria\, and left for dead. He returned to touring after emergency surgery\, though the incident significantly disrupted the album’s original touring cycle. Now\, more than two decades later\, the entire album has been newly remastered by longtime Unsane collaborator and engineer Andrew Schneider. All formats will include an extra track\, “No Soul\,” originally released via Frank Kozik’s now-defunct\, infamous Man’s Ruin label as a vinyl-only limited edition. Additionally\, the band will release the original six-song demo session recorded at AmRep Studios in Minneapolis\, MN. This previously unreleased material will be included in the digital download format and will also be made available for streaming and download. \nDespite its cult status\, the band had never performed Occupational Hazard in its entirety – until a newly announced\, one-time-only special performance at the Roadburn Festival in April 2026. In addition to this exclusive appearance\, Unsane will embark on a full EU/UK headline tour\, running from March 13 to April 19\, 2026. \nhttps://unsane.bandcamp.com\nhttps://www.instagram.com/unsaneband \nPURE LOVE ETERNAL PEACE\nExperimental Psych Drone Doom https://pureloveeternalpeace.bandcamp.com\nhttps://www.instagram.com/pureloveeternalpeace \nBat Leather\nNoise Post Rock\nhttps://sonicchurchrecords.bandcamp.com/album/pageantry \nNeon Taste\nhttps://www.neontasterecords.ca\nhttps://neontasterecords.bandcamp.com\nhttps://www.instagram.com/neon.taste.records

SUMMARY:The Free Label to Record Live Album at the King Eddy Using Rolling Stones Mobile Studio\, September 26 & 27
DESCRIPTION:National Music Centre (NMC) is launching the Live from the King Eddy concert series with Toronto’s The Free Label\, Sept. 26 and 27 in Calgary. The band will get the rare opportunity to record a live album at the King Eddy\, using the legendary Rolling Stones Mobile Studio. \n\nPresented in celebration of NMC’s 10th anniversary\, the Live from the King Eddy series will bring 10 acclaimed artists from across Canada to Calgary to record live albums at the Eddy using the famed mobile studio\, starting with The Free Label. \n\n(Calgary\, AB — August 18\, 2026) National Music Centre (NMC) is announcing the launch of Live from the King Eddy\, a new concert series that puts audiences in the room as music history is made. \n  \nDATES: Saturday\, September 26\, 2026 & Sunday\, September 27\, 2026. \nTIME: 8:00 pm \nWHERE: the King Eddy \nEarly Bird: $35. General: $45. \n\nKicking off the series on September 26 and 27\, disco\, funk\, and soul collective The Free Label will take over the King Eddy for a two-night concert experience that will be recorded live off the floor with the Rolling Stones Mobile Recording Studio. Known as the “Sistine Chapel of rock ‘n’ roll\,” the studio on wheels is a treasured part of NMC’s living collection. Used to record albums by some of the biggest names in music\, including The Rolling Stones\, Led Zeppelin\, Fleetwood Mac\, Deep Purple\, Bob Marley\, and Neil Young\, The Free Label will get a once-in-a-lifetime chance to add to its legacy. \nThe Free Label is made up of six multi-instrumentalists and vocalists from Toronto\, melding ‘70s disco\, ‘90s R&B\, and high-energy funk that gets people dancing. The group’s natural chemistry\, technical prowess\, and captivating live performances have made them instant favourites with audiences worldwide. \n“Getting the chance to record with the Rolling Stones Mobile Studio is surreal\,” said The Free Label’s Josh Tsakas. “So many records and artists that have inspired us are connected to the studio\, and now we get to add our own chapter to that story. We’ve always fed off the energy of a live crowd\, so having everyone at the King Eddy with us while we capture our songs is going to be really special. We can’t wait to share those two nights with Calgary.” \nThe Live from the King Eddy series aims to recapture the spirit of the multi-day residencies that were common at the King Eddy in its early days\, and give artists from across Canada access to the Rolling Stones Mobile Studio\, one of the most coveted pieces of National Music Centre’s living collection. The series also gives audiences an opportunity to be a part of the recording\, adding to the vibe of the room and the energy of the recording as it unfolds. \nThe series builds on the success of past sessions with Corb Lund\, as well as The Harpoonist & the Axe Murderer\, whose blistering live album\, Live at the King Eddy\, earned the blues duo a 2023 JUNO Award nomination\, and a 2023 Western Canadian Music Award win for Blues Artist of the Year. \n“National Music Centre is home to an extraordinary collection of musical heritage\, and we believe that some of the instruments and recording equipment in the collection must be made available so that these treasures can continue to tell stories and capture new Canadian music\,” said Andrew Mosker\, President and CEO of National Music Centre. “Live from the King Eddy brings that philosophy to life by putting the Rolling Stones Mobile Studio back to work in one of Canada’s most storied live music venues. It also gives artists the rare opportunity to create with a legendary piece of music history\, while continuing to preserve the collection and creating a unique program for audiences\, where they can experience Canadian artists collaborating with NMC and the King Eddy together.” \n\nPresented in celebration of NMC’s 10th anniversary\, the Live from the King Eddy series will bring 10 acclaimed artists from across Canada to Calgary to record live albums at the Eddy using the famed mobile studio. Along with The Free Label\, the series will feature Montreal rockers The Damn Truth and Quebec singer-songwriter Sara Dufour\, with more Canadian artists to be announced soon. \n  \nTickets for The Free Label’s Live from the King Eddy performances on September 26 and 27 are available at kingeddy.ca/whats-on. \nAbout National Music Centre | Centre National de Musique\nNational Music Centre (NMC) is a registered charity dedicated to amplifying the love\, sharing\, and understanding of music in Canada. As a cornerstone of the National Music Centre (NMC)\, the rich civic and musical history of the King Eddy is the primary reason that NMC chose to construct its new building at this location. The King Edward Hotel was one of the first hotels built in Calgary along 9 Avenue between 1905-1907. Over the years\, it’s been a home and destination for travellers\, settlers\, musicians\, music fans\, and citizens from all walks of life. From the early 1980s until it closed in 2003\, the “Eddy” had a respected local\, national\, and international reputation for legendary live music and was affectionately known as “Calgary’s Home of the Blues.” Restored brick by brick to its original glory by the National Music Centre\, the reimagined King Eddy reopened in 2018\, marking a new chapter in its storied legacy. It has received numerous national music industry awards and nominations in that time\, and has been repeatedly recognized as one of Calgary’s best live music venues.
