Breaking The Tethers

Breaking The Tethers
Breaking The Tethers
Hosted by Andrew Waller
Mondays from 7:00 am to 10:00 am
Next Show: May 20, 2013 @ 7:00 am

Breaking the Tethers is a musical dog’s breakfast.  Usually, there’s some jazz plus other tastes from all over that musical map, leaning a bit to the “out there” side of things.  Presented to you as a Monday morning sound experience. Suggestions, requests, and comments are always welcome.

First show back after a week’s absence.  Many thanks to Nathan Taylor for taking the reigns while I was away (in Taiwan!).

A bit of a slant to the “new” and “jazz” this week but still very much a mixed bag.  A fair number of new releases on the ECM label are crossing my path these days; I featured three of them (one an hour) in today’s show.  The “New speedway boogie” was the first time it was ever played live, not long after its composition.  Richie Havens RIP.

This was a really wide and varied show with 33 tracks played; not a record but not too far off.  Top of the heap for this week: “Lalla” by Rokia Traore.

I’ll be away (in Taiwan!) for next week’s show, April 29.  Nathan Taylor has kindly agreed to fill in for me, as he has done in the past.  I’ll be back on the air in two weeks, on May 6.
