ABOUT THE BOOK

At forty-three, Carmen Joy King blows up her life in Montreal, quits her corporate job, and drives 4,000 kilometers alone from Calgary to Cabo San Lucas to take an African psychedelic called Iboga. Determined to cure her chronic anxiety and decades-long pattern of obsessing over unavailable men, she embarks on this journey with her small dog Stevie, navigating treacherous mountain passes and facing her deepest fears.

ABOUT THE AUTHOR

Carmen Joy King is a writer and artist. Born and raised in rural Alberta, she has lived in five countries and travelled extensively throughout Asia, Europe, and the Americas. Her essays have appeared in adbusters magazine, L’Officiel magazine, and The Humber Literary Review. King also spent over a decade writing copy for the world’s top brands. After years living in Montreal, she has returned to her prairie roots in Calgary where she lives with her dog Stevie and continues to paint and write. “Don’t Yell at Her!” is her first book.
