Been thinking about woodpeckers a lot. Here, I usually only see Northern Flickers - I don't mind them, but to me, they aren't that classic woodpecker look - the media has convinced me that the true woodpecker is that glossy, black and white with a real sheen of red feathers atop their noble head; who is the most woodiest of woodpeckers, if not somebird who looks like that guy from The Fox and The Hound flick? But y'know what? Northern Flickers are as woodpecker as they come. Just ask the trees. Judge a bird by what they do, not how they look. And they're pecking wood, look at the holes left and grubs found. For the Northern Flicker, I am grateful. Enjoy some blues, gospel, folk, country, and jazz that even a Northern Flicker would love.
