Remembering Jeff Vandusen

We are deeply saddened by the passing of Jeff Vandusen, host of The Phonograph Frolic on CJSW Radio, on July 11, 2019. Jeff quietly impacted the lives of many people at CJSW Radio. This was particularly evidenced by the moving stories that were told at a special gathering that was held in his honour in Calgary on July 18 at the King Eddy. Jeff was known for his love of cribbage and the New York Times Crossword. His travel cribbage board was a constant companion.

Since 2013, Jeffrey utilized his encyclopedic knowledge of prewar music, such as Blues, Jazz, and Folk, to host the weekly program The Phonograph Frolic on CJSW Radio, presenting pre-war music in all of its glory. Jeff’s show was a fascinating window into past dimensions of sound that was unlike anything else on our station. His show will be missed immensely, but not nearly as much as the erudite and charming personality he brought to our membership. Jeff was also a dearly loved employee of the Calgary Public Library at the Central Library. In honour of our late friend, we invite you all to visit CJSW.com to hear Jeff’s final episode, which aired Monday, July 15, 2019. We hope you’ll find this very special edition of The Phonograph Frolic as special we do.
