Spring has sprung and we are here yet again with another Top 30 list of CJSW’s finest ‘May Flowers.’ Our Top 30 this month features a bouquet of Calgary’s budding new artists like Silvering who came in at an impressive number 3 for her debut bedroom pop EP Minefield Memory. (Silvering is the solo project of CJSW’s own Visuals & Graphic coordinator, Shalom so make sure you say Hi if you see her around, and keep an eye out for her wicked poster designs this summer!) Also on the Top 30, Calgary’s Amy Nelson’s long-awaited album Educated Woman, a collection of intimate folk songs that are bound to make you swoon, and Calgary synth-legends Melted Mirror with another great darkwave release titled Past Life. Canadian artist Tanika Charles killed it this month with her silky-smooth soul album The Gumption and Montreal experimental cellist Justin Wright lulled us all into a summery trance with his release Music For Staying Warm. CJSW was pollinated with post-punk this month and we are stoked to see some of our faves Drahla, Goat Girl, and Co-Op on the list as well. That’s it for this month!
