CJSW 90.9 FM is the successful recipient of funding from the 2024 Canada Summer Jobs program offered by Service Canada. As such, CJSW will hire seven positions from over the course of the eligibility period for this year’s program.
Each one of these positions are limited to Canadian citizens between the ages of 18 and 30. Each position is for an 8 week term at 35 hours per week @ $17.00 per hour. The positions and work terms are as follows:

CSJ 2024 – Videographer

Working closely with CJSW’s Digital Media Coordinator, the Videographer will assist with creating CJSW-produced video content with an emphasis on social media fund-raising and advertising content creation. This position will report to CJSW’s Marketing & Development Director and Station Manager.
Term: 8 weeks at 35 hours per week @ $17.00 per hour. Applications will be accepted from April 23th, 2024 to 12pm on May 6th, 2024.
Tasks and Responsibilities
- Assist in creating video content for broadcast and web that tells the stories of those in the Calgary and greater Treaty 7 community, including YouTube, TikTok videos
- Coordinate and train volunteers alongside CJSW’s Production Coordinator to help with video creation
- Assist CJSW’s Production Coordinator with editing of ongoing CJSW video projects
- Create specialty video content for CJSW’s annual Funding Drive
- Digitally archive, catalog and tag video materials for future access and use, and potentially make these materials available to the public based on cultural relevance
- Develop projects that engage multicultural students associations and community associations and aid them in the production of these projects
- Other duties as required
Required Skills

CJSW 90.9 FM is a successful recipient for funding from the 2024 Canada Summer Jobs program. As a successful recipient for funding, CJSW is hiring two Canadian citizens between the ages of 18 and 30 for the role of Audio/Video Producer for an eight week, 35-hour-per week contract.
The Audio/Video Producer will work closely with CJSW’s Music & Performance Director to capture and produce audio and video content. This producer will focus on audio and video production for CJSW live performance sessions, as well as developing content from archival audio. In addition to in-studio performances, the A/V Producer will work with full-time staff to develop other original content; this could include, but is not limited to, local music-focused programming and podcasts, retrospectives, live-streams, creative video companion pieces.
The successful candidates for the Audio/Video Producer position should have a thorough knowledge and broad appreciation for all types of and styles of original content creation with a focus on audio and video production and editing.
We are seeking a pair of enthusiastic and talented team players to fill the positions of Audio/Video Producer. The timeline of employment for each respective Audio/Video Producer is:

Tasks and Responsibilities
- Reports primarily to the Music & Performance Director
- Recording, filming and editing content for FM broadcast and online broadcast
- Developing ideas, coordinating production and executing projects pertaining to CJSW original content programming which includes, but is not limited to, live sound engineering, video capture and production
- Acting as liaison between CJSW and festival and venue partners to develop content opportunities
- Updating a guide of best practices for audio/video engineering at CJSW
- Training volunteers on how to use equipment and create content
- Engineering and capturing performances at CJSW’s all-ages concert venue, The McHugh House
- Posting content to cjsw.com, YouTube and other online platforms
- Promoting syndication of CJSW’s original content for online consumption and use by other organizations
- Other duties as assigned
Required Skills
- Comprehensive understanding and appreciation of audio and video production
- Experience with Logic audio editing software is an asset
- Experience with Adobe Creative Suite and/or Final Cut
- Some experience with live sound engineering is an asset
- Ability to critically assess recordings and make competent edits
- Self-motivated and willing to initiate projects
- Experience working with and inspiring volunteers
- Described as an open minded individual, creative thinker and excellent communicator
- Progressive attitude, good stress management, multi-tasking and organization skills are a must
- Familiarity with various social media platforms is an asset
- Web development experience is an asset

We are seeking an enthusiastic and experienced team player to fill the position of Community Outreach Coordinator. This position will play a crucial role in developing, implementing and organizing outreach initiatives for CJSW Radio, as well as online opportunities. This position will be responsible for the growth and stewardship of CJSW’s Friends Card program, a successful collaboration between CJSW and local businesses.The successful candidate will report to CJSW’s Marketing & Development Director and Station Manager.
Term: 8 weeks at 35 hours per week @ $17.00 per hour. Applications will be accepted from April 23th, 2024 to 12pm on May 6th, 2024.
Tasks and Responsibilities:
• Preparation for, and attendance at, outreach events taking place virtually and physically, developing our audience and communicating our offerings.
• Identify potential outreach partnerships with community organizations, building internal mailing lists and execute mailings for outreach campaigns.
• Contribute to the production and distribution of all outreach and promotional materials, including program guides, event handbills, posters, booklets, signage, and other marketing collateral as needed.
• Assist in the development of an online community engagement strategy.
• Work with the Marketing & Development Director and local small businesses on CJSW’s Friends Card program.

Required Skills:

As a successful recipient for funding, CJSW will hire a Canadian citizen between the ages of 18 and 30 for this role for an eight week, 35-hour-per week contract. The Media Librarian works closely with the Music & Performance Director to maintain and develop CJSW’s extensive music library, archives and digital content. This position will be looking at CJSW’s current physical and digital library organization and developing a plan to ensure its ongoing maintenance and accessibility.
Term: 8 weeks at 35 hours per week @ $17.00 per hour. Applications will be accepted from April 23th, 2024 to 12pm on May 6th, 2024.
Tasks and Responsibilities
• Work under the guidance and mentorship of the Music Director to organize, maintain, develop and grow the CJSW music library. This process will include, but is not limited to:
• Assessing current library (physical and digital) organization and developing strategic plan to ensure ongoing maintenance and sustainability
• Organization of music in an accessible and effective way, particularly with genres that can be difficult to organize (such as language minority music, local music, experimental/neo-classical music, jazz and others)
• Addressing issues of imbalance or underrepresentation, especially in language minority genres, Indigenous peoples, local and Canadian music genres as well as other historically important recordings
• Developing and maintenance of library database and catalog to improve programming efficiency
• Make the catalogue accessible to people with a wide variety of abilities, needs and technology.
• Digitally convert, and catalog materials, especially local and Canadian materials, for
future access and posterity, and potentially make these materials available to the
public based on cultural relevance.
• Coordinate these projects with CJSW’s Music Director, programmers and volunteers.
Required Skills
• Strong organizational skills and ability to meet deadlines.

• Strong working knowledge of computers, especially Macs.
• Experience and/or education in library organization is an asset.
• Working experience with databases.
• Strong musical knowledge.

The Festival & Outreach Coordinators will work with our community partners to create promotion and entertainment opportunities for CJSW over the course of summer. These individuals will also oversee the transport and set-up of CJSW’s presence at a number of events in Calgary and area. The successful candidates will work closely with all CJSW staff and volunteers. Festival & Outreach Coordinator will be reporting to the Marketing & Development Director and Station Manager.
We are seeking a pair of enthusiastic and talented team players to fill the positions of Festival & Outreach Coordinators. The timeline of employment for each respective Festival & Outreach Coordinator is:

Tasks and Responsibilities:
- Liaise with summer festivals to fulfill CJSW’s obligations as a festival partner. CJSW historically sponsors over 40 festivals each summer including Marda Gras, Calgary International Blues Fest, Calgary International Film Festival, Calgary Folk Music Festival, Greek Festival, Sled Island and many more
- Work with the CJSW Marketing & Development Director to plan and finalize
- sponsorship contracts with the organizations running festivals in Calgary
- Ensure the implementation of on-air and print advertisements associated with
- sponsorship agreements
- Schedule and train volunteers to be at festival booths and provide community
- Outreach leadership
- Coordinate and create CJSW promotional materials such as brochures, program
- guides, etc. to enhance the festival outreach experience
- Develop and implement creative outreach strategy at the CJSW promotional booth
- during festivals
- Organize and oversee live, remote broadcasts
- Transport and set-up CJSW’s mobile promotions kit at festivals throughout Calgary and area
- Other duties as assigned
Required Skills:
