Velvet Elk are Calgary’s own Garage Country band bringing a loose fuzz-rock, shoe-gaze sensibility to country tunes full of wild heartache, rowdy nights half remembered, long drives through empty prairie, cold quiet mornings, stamping feet, and wry, crackle-voiced chuckles. Song writer James Thomas (vocals/guitars) is supported by a crack team of outlaw musicians: Nathan M. Godfrey (guitars/mandolin), Martin Pritchard (pedal steel), Stephen Eldred (bass/keys), and Mark Samcoe (drums).
