High/Low

On High/Low, Ben and Gio see the high in low-brow and the low in high-brow. For this edition, Gio evaluates the many adaptations of Pierre Choderlos de Laclos’ 1782 ¬†epistolary novel Les Liaisons dangereuses (Dangerous Liaisons), and tells you why 1998’s Cruel Intentions might be the truest and best adaptation of them all. Meanwhile, Ben digs into the Jackass franchise, which is close to his heart, and tells you why this modern-day slapstick series deservedly screened at New York’s lofty Museum of Modern Art (MoMa). All of this, plus a deep dive into what makes something high-brow or low-brow, in addition to lots of wild tangents.
