This is one of the best weeks of the year to listen to CJSW programming as the passion, energy and excitement of everyone is focused on reaching our 2022 fundraising goal of $200,000. In the spirit of the blooming and budding of this year’s campaign, CJSW is pleased to announce the following events in support of Broadcast In Bloom: CJSW Ship Arcade: 8:00pm-close, 24 October 2022 at the Ship & Anchor Pub (534 17 Ave SW) What better way to support CJSW than to swing by the Ship and Anchor for a night of vintage video games, cold refreshments, sliders, corndogs and sensational prizes? No quarters are required to play at this incredibly fun night in support of CJSW’s 2022 Funding Drive. This is a free event! Funding Drive Karaoke: 9:00pm-close, 20 October 2022 at Pin Bar (501 17 Ave SW) Join us on Thursday October 20 for karaoke at PinBar cohosted by The Future Language’s Helen Young and Pin Bar’s Beau Barker, singing kicks off at 9PM until close. We’ll be raffling off some rad prizes from Radio Block Tattoo, Camp Brand Goods, Tail Gunner Brewing Co, and CJSW. And to sweeten the deal, Pin Bar is offering half price pizza and 9 dollar triples all night. Stretch your singing muscles and help CJSW’s Funding Drive grow! This is a free event as well. Garden of Earthly Delights Halloween Party: CJSW 90.9 FM, Sled Island, and Village Brewery are excited to present The Garden of Earthly Delights Halloween Party happening at the #1 Royal Canadian Legion on October 29, 2022 from 8pm – 2am. Dress up in your spookiest costume and join us to celebrate the 2022 CJSW Broadcast in Bloom Funding Drive, wrapping up with three floors of fun ranging from the best local bands playing your favourite ear worms, a video dance party and CJSW DJs dropping heavy club vibes! Tickets go on sale this Friday, October 7 at noon MDT at Showpass.com/CJSWHalloween. This event sells out very fast, so get ‘em while you can As you may already know, CJSW broadcasts music and spoken word programming 24/7, rain or shine, in over 10 languages spanning more than 110 programs. Every year, for the one week of Funding Drive, we focus all of our energies to encourage our listeners and the communities we serve to give financial support to Calgary’s preeminent independent media source. The CJSW Funding Drive is the most successful community radio fundraising annual event of its kind in Canada. Our community of supporters donate close to $250,000 annually, which is invested directly back into the station and its broadcast. Funding Drive donations directly pay for our broadcast tower lease, website maintenance and growth, technical support, marketing and just about any other non-staff expense associated with broadcasting 24 hours a day on multiple platforms. Moreover, Funding Drive has allowed for CJSW to grow and evolve to better serve our growing audiences.
